A native of Norway, Olav Gjerde (pronounced Yarday) has been working in the home-building industry for his entire career. Graduating High School in Norway at the age of 16, Olav went right in to Trade School as a Carpenter and then to the rigorous Apprenticeship Program in Carpentry. For almost two decades he worked in the field before going back to HCCC for AutoCAD in 2001. He has later made the switch to specialized 3D software tailored to architects and designers  

 

He started the CAD Studio in 2007 transferring his almost 20 years of extensive experience in the field, and almost a decade of design and drafting experience in to his detailed CAD-drawings and 3D renderings

His combined experience fills a void that most other Drafters, Designers and Architects can not fill; "I know what the craftsmen in the field needs. Most times this is not clearly communicated by Design Professionals, simply because most have not had any field experience" he says. "I am not an Architect" he continues "but I have surrounded myself with the right Industry professionals to assist me if needed assuring the final plans permit approval"

 

Letting the homeowner be in control of the design process throughout the Design phase assures homeowners the design they want. Olav developed an extensive questionnaire and checklist for this purpose. "My goal is to make the design better than what my Clients expect" We will work on the design together until they are completely satisfied, and the Design is in compliance with current Building codes" Olav says.  3D renderings and Virtual Reality Walk-through assist the Homeowner in getting a realistic perspective of what their project will look like. 

 

2008 marked a highlight for the CAD Studio. The Cad Studios contribution of the design leading to R.A.M Investing Ltd winning a 2008 Custom Builder Silver Award in the Category of Speculative Luxury Traditional Home by The Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association. Being instrumental in R.A.Ms Award-winning home in Potomac, MD set the stage for two more large custom home designs for R.A.M Investing Ltd.

 

Working out of his Home-office in Frederick, MD he is able to keep the overhead to a minimum and the prices low providing great value for his clients as he lead them through the Design and Construction maze in a refreshing way
